Formal clothes at Ivy Leagues

Do students really dress formally at Ivy Leagues? Do guys wear shirts and beige trousers? Or is that just for special occasions?

At Yale, almost all of the guys wore shirts when they weren’t in their rooms. But with jeans, not slacks. I’d have remembered shirtlessness

(As a girl, I went with no formalwear. A bunch of us went to the thrift shop to get dresses at one point, and I had two formal-dance dresses when I graduated. I think most guys owned a sport coat and at least one tie.)

Yes, everyone wears a full suit and tie everywhere, for everything. You should get at least 12 blazers.

David has no idea what he’s talking about. All my classes were black tie mandatory. Don’t you dare wear something as casual as a suit.

lol! too funny!!
