Hey guys, I'm having a really tough time deciding between these two residence halls. I've heard that Founders is new and really clean, and has some of the best views. On the other hand, I toured Third North and it has a great dining hall, and seems to be a favorite among the NYU students. Can anyone give me further information regarding these residence halls? Which one is better? Also, since they're a bit farther from campus than Hayden and Goddard, is the social life lacking? Any advice/info would be much appreciated...thanks! :)

fairy,

1) Founders has great views but only if you are assigned to one of the higher floor rooms. I cannot recall exactly, but something like rooms from 9th and up have views. So there is a chance you will get a room with no real great view.

2) Third North apparently is now vying with Hayden as the “social” dorm, so if you want your dorm to be livelier and have more social vibes, then Third North would be the choice. My son who is now a Founders resident has told me Founders does not have a strong community feel to it. (Though, indeed, the rooms are newer and more spacious than most Freshman dorms.)

It depends on the dynamics on each floor at Founders. My son’s floor at Founders seems to have a lot of community and have done quite a few things as a group. It is a mixture of the many NYU schools.
