How much longer does the semi-formal rush go on for fraternities? It seems like a lot of the fraternities already have given out their bids-- and have done so over the summer. is it too late to still get in? My DS wants to be a part of it, but being from OOS feels a little behind the eight-ball on this…can anyone offer advice on how he puts his best foot forward at this late date? He is registered as required on the UA Greek site…

Hi,

Has he been going to frat parties? Has he made friends with any brothers at any particular houses?

I would think going to the rush parties and making new friends there would do the trick.

Let us know what he’s been doing.

Tell him not to freak out. Fraternity rush is nowhere nearly as formal as sorority rush. Although many houses have given out their bids, most, if not all, will give out bids through rush and maybe after that. If he doesn’t get a bid or decides not to take one, many houses will have a spring pledge class and it’s not unusual for many guys to wait and pledge their sophomore, maybe junior, year.

What is the process at this point for frat rush?

Do they have a week or two of parties? When do they start? I’m thinking that they are going on now.

Here is a link to the IFC page that gives dates [Greek Life](http://www.greeklife.ua.edu/join.html)

Anybody currently in the fraternity system who can give an update? My son has a bid, does it have to be answered right away? He doesn’t feel he has met a lot of different houses yet, but he doesn’t want to squander the opportunity. He likes the house, but feels he doesnt have a full picture of all of them. Should he wait until accepting until rush? What else can he do? Please any opinions/comments from those familiar with the system greatly appreciated. I am sort of surprised he is asking me…so make me look good! :)

Have your son get in touch with the Greek Life office I think they have people that are in the greek system now who might could advise him as to his best options. Hope this helps.

I don’t have a son in a frat, so I don’t know personally how frat rush works.

Did your son do all the steps on this page? And, contact the recruitment chairs?
