Freshman Apartments?

Hi, I want to live in the apartments for housing because I love to cook.

Are the Parkside apartments or Webb tower better?

I heard that Parkside is recently renovated, but it doesn't have AC. Webb tower seems to have more recreation facilities, but the Webb tower room in the virtual tour doesn't look as good as that for Parkside.

Thanks. =D

I answered your question in another thread (I think it was asked in 4 different threads?)- but will answer here again.

Webb is better- nicer, newer, has AC, and the majority of residents are freshman. It is right across from Lyon rec center.

I lived in Webb a few years ago and I’ve been inside Parkside Apartments and Webb is clearly nicer. However, be careful because…

Not sure how much you will be cooking after spending minimum $2,550 per semester on a meal plan.

Thanks, so how do you think Parkside and Cardinal Gardens compare? I know that Cardinal Gardens is not on campus, so will it be more dangerous?

Cardinal Gardens is like 100 ft across the street from the 2nd most crossed intersection by USC students not to mention already being on the North side of campus, being more dangerous is the least of your worries. Both buildings are fairly old and very similar, I can’t really think of any major pluses for either other than Cardinal Gardens having AC and only the lesser/much cheaper Apartment Meal Plan is required. I would go in assuming though that the amount of freshman in these buildings (probably moreso for Cardinal Gardens) is much more less than actual Freshman dorms as both are available for upperclassmen so you may not be surrounded by as many Freshman as you would elsewhere.

So how about Flour tower single dorms?

I know they are super hard to get into, but I have my own room and bathroom. Do they have a kitchen? I know the 8 people suites have a kitchen, but does the single rooms have a community kitchen?

The suites in Fluor do not have a kitchen. There is a microwave, refrigerator, hot plate and sink, and about 10 inches of counter space. If you are creative you can “cook” using that arrangement, but it’s not going to be a daily activity.

Regardless of where you live, as already stated here you will have a compulsory meal plan. And you’ll be pretty busy with class work and making friends. I’m not sure how much additional time and money you’ll want to devote to grocery shopping during freshman year.
