I'm applying for a transfer to Harvard and Yale after having been waitlisted at both a year and a half ago. Will my previous interviews, waitlisted status, and essays be at all considered in my transfer application, or will I start with a clean slate? Thanks.

This ought to be a pretty elementary question… Any thoughts ?

Still nothing ?

I emailed Yale last month and asked about that, and they said yes.

^ That’s interesting! Not that I don’t believe you or anything, but could you post what exactly they would consider/how it factors in overall?

my email to Yale transfer admissions:

I noticed that on the common application I am asked whether or not I have applied to Yale before–will it hurt my chances if I was rejected the first time around? And will my
first application be taken into consideration when the admission committee
evaluates my transfer application?

Yale’s response:

You need to put the correct information on the application, state you
apply in the year___ . Your application will be read along with your first
application and it will not hurt your chances of being accepted.

^^^ not sure how it won’t hurt my chances if my first application sucked…
