I don't particularly like the universities that offered me acceptance, so if I were to apply again next as a freshman (i.e. declining all my offers this year and not going to university in Sept), what would be some of the differences in the application process, procedural or otherwise? For instance, would the Midyear Report and Final Report look exactly like the initial School Report since I didn't get any new grades? Thanks!

I’ve done this process before. It’s the same except you have to fill out the new forms with almost the same info.

Of course, you would tell the colleges what you are doing during the gap year.

If you absolutely do not like the college you got accepted to, do this, but remember to apply to colleges you have not applied to before as well. Be smart with your choices by having reaches, matches, as well as a few safeties.

If you want, you should apply nonrestrictive EA to a college or two.

wow! that was fast.

could you be a bit more specific as to what forms I have to complete? And if you don’t mind my asking, what did you do during your gap year?

-get an internship
-travel
-volunteer
-get more involved n your ECs to strengnthen ur app
-repeat SATs if you like

I graduated from HS in December 2008 and applied to start in fall 2009. Regarding forms, my school just sent the complete HS transcript in December 08 and didn’t send any other Mid-Year crap. I had to call several schools (Wellesley, Princeton) to inform them that I wouldn’t have a Mid-Year report but that was it.

If you just hate the schools that admitted you, but would still like to go somewhere this fall, here is a list of rolling and late admission colleges and universities. One might be a good match for you:
