Eveeryone wants bingham and I heard many freshmen wind up there, is this true? how is the housing in bingham and in the other halls at newing? anything I should Know going into this community?

In general, rooms in each dorm are reserved for freshmen. I don’t know what that means in terms of how many freshmen end up in each dorm – but realize as a practical matter since Bingham is only one dorm (though the largest in Newing) I would think you are more likely to end up in one of the other Newing dorms than Bingham – there’s no way to know for sure until you get your housing assignment.

Newing is the community that is in the midst of being rebuilt – one new building, Bingham, has opened. The other dorms in Newing are all older, corridor style dorms. As part of the new construction a new collegiate center, which will include the dining hall, is under construction. The old Newing Dining Hall was demolished before the beginning of last year.

What this means – if you aren’t in Bingham, you will be in one of the older dorms. Whichever dorm you are in, there will be construction going on nearby. You will have to walk to another community’s dining hall – Dickinson and CIW are the two closest.

But on the plus side – construction is due to be complete for Fall 2011 – so if you are in Newing this year you will have a priority in housing requests to stay in Newing for the next year, which means for Fall 2011 you would be in the newest dorms with the nice new collegiate center (unless you choose to move out of Newing).

In general, people tend to like whatever community they end up in – its the people that make a community, not the bricks. have you seen this info about Newing?
Totally agree about the “people tend to like whatever community they end up in”. When I first heard I got into Newing, I was really upset and disappointed. I ended up living there the following year, and I’m really going to miss it this year when I move to the apartments.
