Just wondering, do all freshman register for classes at orientation?
Is there a chance that classes we need/want will fill up? (I plan on doing the 3+2 Physics program and was told to take General Physics 1, Calc, Chem 1 and then Writing and TIDES for the fall)

No, not all incoming freshmen go to the orientations in June (or for Honors Program invitees the Honors Weekends in the Spring). The way it works is that they hold slots open in all 100 level classes throughout June, thus giving all people attending orientations the possibility of getting the schedule they desire. After June orientations are complete, they open up registration to all incoming freshmen that could not attend. Some people don’t register until they arrive for move-in weekend.

It isn’t a perfect system, but there is no university I know of that has one. Because when you think about it, there cannot be one. It is economically and logistically impossible to have so many sections of each course that everyone can get what they want. But the vast majority of students get a schedule that they are very happy with, and gets them going at Tulane just fine. You should have no problems getting the classes you meed for the major you are intending.

You might not get the best teachers/times, but none of the classes you listed will fill up entirely.
