Summer Orientation!

Very excited to hear that we can sign up for summer orientation. Question though - if you are not able to attend on of the early dates, does it impact availability of classes? Meaning, is it kind of "first come - first served"? If so, might be worth trying to figure out how to get there early even if it mean missing two days of school.

Last year they reserved slots in either all or most of the freshman and sophomore level classes for each orientation session, specifically so that people attending later orientation dates are not disadvantaged. Also it probably keeps everyone from flooding the earlier dates! So sometimes a class will look full online, but in reality through the end of June they are just holding places for incoming freshmen. I would confirm this will be the case for this year with your admissions counselor, although I would be very surprised if they changed it. Assuming this is so, I wouldn’t struggle to go early.

Last year we went to the second to last session and my D had no problems getting the classes she wanted, and most of those didn’t even have reserved slots (she only took one freshman level course).

To confirm what FallenChemist said: On the website where you sign up for an orientation slot, there is a FAQ section, and it says there that they will hold slots in freshman classes. So no worries if you go later!
