I definitely plan to party so I'm thinking a superblock dorm is best? But I also really want a single dorm, because I'm more of a private person and I can't stand the thought of sharing a room with someone. Or is that just a bad idea? I've heard centennial has a lot of single dorms, but it isn't just a freshmen dorm so would it be dumb to ask for that one? Also, can you request a single dorm and do you have to pay extra for it? Thanks!

@xomaddiexo…Yes, you can request a single in Centennial but it will cost you about $500 per semester more based on the current housing rates. This page contains most of the information (or links to it) to answer your questions.

As far as “partying” goes, I think the reputation of most of the dorms one way or the other is pretty overrated. UMinn has a pretty strict policy against alcohol in the dorms, and while you’ll always be able to find students who bring alcohol into the dorms it’s not like there are keg parties every weekend. The Superblock dorms tend to be a little more rowdy because of the larger number of freshman living there, but if you’re looking for actual parties you’ll be heading off campus more often than not.
