Can anyone tell me if the rooms (at least the LCT rooms) in Rubin have carpeting? I have heard both that they do and that they do not. I'm just wondering if we should buy some sort of rug...

Question about the move in day. Does NYU have hand trucks or carts for us? or should I bring my own?

as far as i know every single dorm room in rubin has carpeting.

You get carts.

Thanks Last2AcntsBanned!

yea, clueless, carpetting. all of them.

Wait, you can bring coffeemakers? I thought NYU didn't like them because of the hot plates. But definitely a portable coffee mug. Thank god my credit card gives starbucks rewards......

yea, you can have a coffeemaker. i did. most people i know did as well.

If you have a hand cart of your own and can cram it in the car with all your other stuff i suggest you bring it. They have carts but sometimes you have to wait quite a while for your "turn" with one

Just show up at 6:45 and move in at 7 and you don't have to worry about anything being mentioned here.

do they check that you're arriving within your scheduled 'move-in time'?

what do nyu students use to put posters and stuff up--pushpins, tape, staples, gummy stuff? my d is in rubin. is there a required method?

I've never seen staples, but I've seen everything else. I would not recommend the gummy stuff because it can and does stain walls. NYU will not notice pushpin holes, so that or tape is probably a good idea.

pushpins are hard to get into most of the walls in rubin (and impossible in weinstein)...i know from experience and having to use my remote control as a makeshift hammer to get small nails into the wall to hang my bulletin board. i had a lot of posters and the best thing i found were these clear sticky squares that peel off easily and don't stain. i can't remember what they were called/the brand, but i picked them up at gristedes (on university between 9th and 8th). i also used the sticky foam for pics on my desk background and some of it was hard to get off, and the yellow clay-like stuff (which doesn't even hold well) on the walls before i found the clear squares. the yellow stuff left some stains.

over-all, go for something sticky and clear (i know a lot of people used scotch tape too)

I used scotch tape, it worked fine. If all else fails, get some duct tape (you should probably have some anyway), there's not a problem it can't solve.

does anyone know which direction the -13 rooms face in Uhall? thanks
