Freshman GPA Issue: Advice Needed

Hey Guys,

As you know freshman year is coming to an end, and as great of an experience Freshman year has been for me my grades can't say the same. I know you guys are thinking "Another GPA advice thread... geez" but please hear me out. Last semester I made a 3.07 (A, C, B, A-) and this semester I am aiming for a 3.62 (A,A,A,B-) worst case scenario is 3.42 (A,A,A,C). The biggest game changers (the C's) have/will be from Calculus (Calc I and II). I like learning math but it isn't a superstrong suit of mine. Looking at best case scenario my cumulative would be around 3.25 or a 3.33 depending if I pull the B or C in Calculus. The good thing is that this will be the last math intensified course I will have to take for my college career and from next semester I will be concentrating on my major related classes (I am a finance/poli. science major).

I aspire to attend either Grad School or Law school upon graduation and I was wondering how heavily do these professional schools weigh freshman year in admissions? Especially since taking courses not related to my major necessary and since its a transition year for many (definitely for me). Also my aim is to get a 3.5+ or above at the end of my sophomore year, is this possible and what is the lowest I can afford to keep that goal alive? I know anything above a 3.0 is decent but for me but I don't think I can afford to keep that going because I would like to go a pretty great professional program school. As of now I am pretty worried on what the future holds for me.

Any advice/suggestions/wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much
