An interesting read for an educator…

I've heard and seen many things, but I think the article pretty much hits it: gaming/IM/internet use definately do it. And most aren't used to having to work. Getting up at 0530 doesn't help either! One of my room mates is ALWAYS on AIM or gaming, he is on ac pro and MIGHT have a 2.00 at the end of this semester. Time is critical...speaking of, back to studying calc and chem for tomorrow's finals. ;)

What the article doesn't mention is that some random site called collegeconfidential has seemingly made grades drop two whole points for everyone who uses it...

Just kidding...:P Hornetguy is right, though. It's gaming and IM. No question about it. People just won't work.

The Academy is very different from HS. At my previous school, I paid attention in class and did the required homework...that just is not good enough here. I think part of it is because of how the schedule is layed out. If I do not need to be doing something, I want to take a break. Unfortunately, those "optional" times should be spent studying and not slacking.

I know that if I am not doing well in a class, I have not done enough outside studying...cough--chem--cough...

lol raimius, chem eats you. I nearly ruined the curve on the ACS part. ;)

"You get an A+...+...+...+..."

Well, I passed...and would have had a 3.0 or higher, except for chemistry.

Video games can really screw peoples' GPA's over. I'd never seen people play video games for eight hours straight until I got here...

All you got to remember... go to there knowing you will have to study and dont waste your time. As long as you keep your head out of your rearend, you'll be fine. Most kids are failing because they dont know (the most common excuse) "time managment" aka common sense... dont play video games and watch movies on weekdays.. its pretty simple stuff. The american people aren't paying for you to play World of Warcraft and catch up on your OC watching... paying for smart people and leaders of the best air and space force in the world.

If you want your favorite shows, their is a super cool, nifty RECORD feature on the academy TV program you have here. So, record the weekday shows and catch up on the weekend if you have time. I didn't have to miss House, Bones, the Unit, Grey's Anatomy (yes I do watch it, bite me ;) ), and the sunday night Fox cartoon line up. Simple pleasures. :)
