Freshman Help

Hello Everyone. I know how extremely selective Naval Academy admissions are and have known a few people who are either currently attending or have been accepted and have talked them to about what they did in freshman year. Can anyone help me or impart some advice so that I can start to become a competitive candidate now? Thank you.

By the way I just recently completed my first season of Varsity cross-country and marching band and plan on doing winter and spring track as well. I have a 3.8 unweighted GPA so far on a 4.0 scale, which I am looking to get up, had a composite score of 195 on my first PSAT (70 critical reading, 70 wiriting, 55 mathematics), and am a Life Scout. Thanks again for helping me out.

Keep doing what you are doing. Varsity CC will be a GREAT thing to have on your application. Also, keep up the good grades and do well on the SAT or ACT (which it sounds like you will do).

Other than taking hard classes you need to make sure you keep up the athletics and then find leadership positions and/or volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for this advice. Because of my age, I am not yet able to apply for a steady volunteering spot, so I am trying to do as much as I can in my Boy Scout troop to volunteer and also attain Eagle. Thank you again.
