One thousand two hundred students who applied for housing contracts and have not received them were sent an email last week informing them that it was unclear whether there would be available beds. The email told students if they wanted to stay on the waitlist, then they needed to respond by Monday, July 30. Otherwise they would be automatically taken off. The email recommended students look at off-campus housing options, sending them links to a list of private dorms and online rental listings.

It is not only on campus housing, private dorms close to UT (Dobie, Castillian, Towers, even Wotan) are all full and don’t accept applications anymore.

I’ve seen… I wonder if 1,200 students know they won’t be receiving contracts anytime soon I am actually living in a condo this freshman year with 2 of my friends… I need another room mate! I would really be more comfortable with having a more academically oriented CCer instead of a partier as a fourth roommate…

Someone please tell me if I’m violating any rules or anything (and I’ll definitely delete this if it violates an advertising code), but:

There is a group on facebook called The University of Texas (UT) Austin, Class of 2016. Just use the exact name because there are several different groups there. This is the most active with a lot of students without housing, and many of them are looking for roommates (people with apartment, room, but without roommate)

I doubt these kids would be looking on craigslist. I bet many of them don’t know what it is.

^ I beg to differ… Not sure if this is a generational gap but I’m almost positive teenagers/ college students all know about Craigslist. And I’m in that group, but so far everyone’s “looking for roommate” posts don’t seem to be effective :(

College students - yes, they have to live on their own with limited resources.
High school students - no. Not yet.
By the way, I personally don’t use craigslist and don’t recommend it to anyone.
The level of fraud is simply stunning.

P.S. I don’t remember any posts on facebook similar to the post above. Though I don’t read it often, I could miss something.

^Craigslist isn’t bad if you’re good enough to notice the scams. It’s not THAT bad. And I don’t know any teenager who doesn 't know what it is…

But yea… Everything was full so I’m staying at the Taos Co-op (Last room at taos). I don’t have a car and I don’t wanna commute by bus… So, I guess I’m chillin with the hippies!

P.S. DON’T STAY AT THE G.WOOTEN. ANYTHING IS BETTER. PLACE WAS DISGUSTING.
