Can anyone give me information on freshman housing? I keep reading about Resident & how far away it is. We were never told there could be a chance my son would be off campus.

Hi, can you tell me what you mean by Resident? My son is going to be a soph come the fall, and he was told that frosh housing is guaranteed and on campus, and there are several dorms just for freshman, and they are all great. They did triple up some, and in fact he was tripled @ Sheahan but it broke down before school even started. (YAY) Sheahan and Leo are comparable in room size and very close to one another. Sheahan is just 3 floors and has no elevator. Leo has an elevator. Marian has larger rooms and is usually used for tripling and quadrupling. I believe it is also a soph dorm, so its mixed. Champagnat is the largest dorm and newest as well. It seems to be a favorite. Altho my son said he would not have chosen anywhere else but Sheahan he really loved it there. Marists website has all the details of each dorm, and sizes of the rooms, its under current students, housing. Not sure if this is what you are asking, but if they are doing something else this year, then I am sorry I wasnt very helpful :)

petcat… Thanks much for the info. It was very helpful. Looking forward to orientaion in June . Think all questions will be addressed there . Thx again !

You are most welcome! Orientation is great- for parents and students. Students go one way and parents basically stay in the student center and attend very helpful classes, while students are all over campus, and you get to see all the dorms, get to go in and choose where you want to live then too- fill out roommate “compatibility” forms, and a host of other helpful, and mind soothing activities. It really is a great orientation the current Marist students that run it are fantastic! I was ready to enroll ! Have fun, and enjoy your summer too! Oh btw the food @ Orientation is great too! One word tho, they do take your Marist ID photo first thing upon arriving, so if you are like my son and still asleep, that’s the pic that follows you for 4 years, unless you pay to “redo” it! :)

The Residence Inn in a hotel down the street from the campus where Marist houses the overflow of students. I think it’s the students who are late requesting housing, transfers, and kids with low priority points who end up assigned there.

would that be for Freshman year though? or just the years beyond?

^I’m not sure. It’s best to get the answer directly from housing.
