yeah! i should have made a "diary of a freshman" thing

I NOMINATE JEYDAY

quick question you guys,

do you think it's okay or doable to have two finals on the same day (with only 30 minutes in between)? :(

...and i thought i had it all good.

and thanks for the nominations and such guys! :D you guys rockkk
i'm honored ;)

if they're two intense classes, or early morning, or you know you won't be studying until a day or two before, don't do it.

i had two finals the same day my first quarter but they weren't back to back. i was also sick with some sort of stomach bug. not a fun day.

if you don't have to do that your first quarter, don't.

OR i can take one of those two classes (that have finals on the same day) at a different lecture, but then one class is 10 minutes after the other during the quarter for lecture. this will solve the same-day final problem though.

LOL i hope scheduling classes isn't always this hard!

liyana, the two classes are art&arch and math3a. and they ARE early in the morning, 8-11 and 11:30 to 2:30.

blahhh

The art and arch final is only like an hour and half and it's not really necessary to study.

in that case, don't slack off studying for math and you'll be fine.

last quarter i had three finals on the same day because it gave me an absolutely perfect schedule and i figured one day of hell was worth 10 weeks of greatness. oh how wrong i was...

but two finals with one being a&a 10 should be fine.

thanks, that makes sense.

liyana, that sucks! i was thinking the same thing too... but yeah since the final is worth a big part of the final grade i guess its value outweighs 10 weeks of greatness!

torture is:

math 3B final at 3-6
LS2 final at 6:30-9:30
hnrs 25 final project due at noon (via email)

i stayed up til 7:30 a.m. that day
but i woke up at 12 noon
from 12 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. = most harrying 7.5 hours of my year

ahem i've got an annoucement to make!

so i FINALLY decided on a schedule. this one is for sure fo shizzle i'm serious! :D

hist2c with ruiz
math3a with weinstein
art&arch10 with winter
educ92f with barbee (loved this dude...he spoke the first day of orientation)

i'm glad it worked out this way and that all my finals are on different days...
whatcha guys think? is it doable?

:)

is there any chance scerri (i'm not sure thats how you spell his name) will teach chem14A for winter quarter?

i'm a music major, but will likely add a major in the biological sciences area, so i need a good college GPA.

he has done it for the last 2 years

Lavelle is hardly that bad. I think most people are complaining cause on bruinwalk cause the class is curved and 15% get As and these freshmen are all used to getting As in HS. I thought he was a decent professor. In all seriousness if you can't handle Lavelle you have no business being a premed.

BTW if the Math 3A professor is Shouxin Dai (not Shibin Dai) then do what you can to take him. Trust me. I got two A-s in 3A and 3B and that was only cause i managed to make dumb mistakes in 1 midterm each quarter and did excellent on the other exams. He is pretty damn easy. Tests are straightforward and it is completely possible to get a 100% on every exam. As far as i know the classes were not curved. Averages for exams were all in the mid 80s range and the median even hit the 90s sometimes. If your a premed, take him for a science GPA booster. His class is 20% Midterm 1, 15% Midterm 2 (not sure why he does it this way), 15% homework, and 50% final.

Hell you could use Ti-89s on the exams AND a notecard full of formulas and notes. The Ti-89 basically guarantees you partial credit and allows you to check your answers on the exams. Professors like Popa don't allow notecards.

does Popa allow calculators on exams?

According to my friend who had popa for 3A/3B he did NOT allow calculators.

So yeah, take Dai.

Physical sci series does not allow calculators

no calcs on popa's tests, i hated that

has anyone taken weinstein for math? he's teaching math3a fall quarter.

there are no reviews for this prof on bruinwalk. there is however a richard weinstein who is under the architecture department. the prof i wanna know about is weinstein, j.s. ... so it isn't the one on bruinwalk.

any input anyone? :)
