Freshman Year Grades

Hi,

I didn't do so well in my freshman year of highschool, I had around a 2.9 GPA. I have now received a 3.9 for sophomore year and 4.0 for junior year. How much will freshman year effect me? I was looking at UF, UCF, and UM.

Thanks

Seeing as UF isn’t Ivy League, a falter early on can be overlooked by a strong upward trend in your GPA, good EC’s, strong personal essay, and an good ACT/SAT scores. UF is Holistic in its admissions selection. The overall strength of your application can easily offset a small fumble Freshman year. That being said, on average UF’s accepted students this fall had a 4.1-4.5 GPA, 1810-2060 SAT and a 27-31 ACT. If you fall in this area and have a relatively strong application overall, you have a shot!

If those are weighted GPAs don’t sweat it. Especially if you have strong ECs and test scores
