Okay so I'm not sure if I want to major in Poli Sci or Media Studies so my first semester/year I'm kinda scheduling things around both. Here is what I want to take:

Political Science 1 (4 unit)
Psych 1 (3 unit)
Physics (3 unit)
Freshiman Seminar (2 unit P/NP)
and maybe one DeCal or an internships.

I want to keep it a light load so I can get acclimated. Poli Sci 1 is a prereq for both majors I'm interested in, Psych 1 fulfills a prereq and a breadth, and Physics is a breadth.

Next semester I'm thinking of taking
Film R1B
History 7B
Poli Sci 4
Nutrition 10

Film R1B fulfills the R+C req. History 7B fulfills AC requirement, a breadth, and prereq for both majors. Poli Sci 4 fulfills a breadth and prereq, and nutrition fulfills a breadth.

How does all of this sound?

Also, I will be traveling through Europe over summer so I won’t be able to go to any of the CalSO days. Will those classes be easy to get? I looked at their class size and poli sci is 300, psych 1 is 500, and physics is 192 so they are all big classes.

from what i remember, students who can’t make it to a CalSO are given the advisor code and can log in sometime in july to sign up for their phase I classes. you’ll be able to sign up for psychology 1, political science 1, and PfFP all in phase I because they only add up to 10 units. i don’t think you’ll have a problem getting any of those classes, the only thing that will be limited is the discussion sections but it really shouldn’t be THAT bad. most freshman sign up for their math, R&C, chem, or econ classes in phase I because those fill up the quickest and are very important prereqs.
