Are freshmen given any choice in what dorm type or dorm hall they get or are they randomized?
Is it possible to room in a suite? If so, how difficult is it to do so?
There’s a portal where you login and select your dorm, your room and can pull in a specific roommate. (Or, just claim a room and go “random” on the roommate.) Priority is based on when you accept and pay your deposit. (Although, I think the Honors/Residential Colleges and LLC’s go first.)
You can request a dorm, they will do their best to accommodate it but if it’s full you’ll be placed someplace else. Freshman can get into suites, though upperclassmen usually get priority if they are living on campus and they generally go for the suites so definitely no guarantees. Personally I think the hall style is better for freshmen versus the suites.
