Hey Guys,

I'm posting this thread for the new class of 2013 freshmen who are looking to begin their college experience at UF. When I first arrived on campus I was very bitter and not very happy to be there; I had gotten into schools such as Princeton and Cornell, but I was not able to pay for them. After evaluating all of my financial options, my most viable options was to attend UF. Almost a year later I must say that I am so glad that I ended up at the University of Florida, and probably the main reason my time here was so great is because I became part of the Freshmen Leadership Council.

The Freshmen Leadership Council is a student government cabinet that is composed of a group of highly qualified freshmen and thrusts them into the clockwork of the university's dynamic. FLC is a family at UF, and is probably the most powerful networking organization for any freshmen on campus. FLC alumni have a legacy of incredible accomplishments, and are involved in every aspect of the university. When you become part of the Freshmen Leadership Council, you are embraced by an entire base of FLC alumni who will mentor and open many doors for you in the University. The council itself hosts a plethora of events and services for freshman and the entire campus that will get your name known from the get go.

The admissions process is composed of an application and an interview. The application can be picked up in the SG office in the 3rd floor of the Reitz Union, and the interview time is scheduled upon the completion of your application. As everything in UF, the interview is everything. This year FLC class had an applicant pool of over 530 people and only 50 were chosen. Preparing a good interview for FLC is something that will echo throughout your entire UF career.

FLC is where the top, most industrious freshmen find their niche, establish their name, and develop the social and political skills needed to be successful in an university such as UF.
