Freshmen Schedule

Could I possibly get some feedback on my schedule? What should I phase 1? Is my schedule manageable? Any remarks are appreciated :)

Math 53 (4 Credits)
Scandinavian R5A (4 Credits) <-----German if I can not get Scandinavian
Physics 7A (4 Credits)
Economics 1 (4 Credits)

sounds fine. Phase 1 the R&C class for sure. Physics also is a good phase 1 course

I would wait on Economics 1 and take something easier/less competitive for your first semester.

What if Econ 1 is NP/P?

Is Economics 1 the hardest class on my schedule?

It depends on how good you are at math and physics and economics. ;-)

For some people these classes are simple, that is why they have honors math and honors physics classes. For others they are impossibly difficult.

I think the general idea is that each of them will have lots of problem sets and sections and labs and whatever. So you don’t want to pile too much on your first semester, since you still need to figure out what is going on and what is expected of you.

k thanks for the help. So, how am I suppose to plan out my schedule with courserank? I noticed that there are discussions, labs, and lectures. Am I suppose to attend all of them? Do people generally attend all of them?

You should only attend one lecture, one lab, and one discussion (assuming a class has all three).

So you should plan out your lecture’s first as you can’t really move them around. I suggest using something like ninja courses if you can’t think of which discussions and labs would work best.

With courserank, I like to just start picking labs and discussions that I think would be good time-wise. You don’t want a discussion for math right before a physics lab, etc…

thanks for the help. So, I only attend one lab, disc, and lecture a week? (what if the class has 2 scheduled lectures? are they both the same?) What is a “ninja course”?

just type ninjacourses.com and figure it out from there. you’ll find it helpful.

It isn’t just one lab, disc, and lecture a week. The way it works is each lab, discussion, and lecture is numbered.

For example a class could have Lec 001, and Lec 002. You pick one and go to all of those Lectures each week. Then Discussions could be Disc 201, 202, 203, 204, and you pick one of those and go to all of the discussion meetings for that. Same for labs.

Say Lec 001 meets MWF 2-4PM, and Disc 202 meets MWF 4-5PM.

If you choose those two you will go to every MWF to that lecture from 2-4 and that discussion from 4-5.

ninja courses generates multiple different schedules that you could have with different courses. It will factor in all the different possibilities with different lectures, discussions, and labs, and you can sort it by preferences (for example you can choose not to have any schedules with classes before 10 AM).

Is Sociology 3AC easier than Econ 1? Which humanities course will you recommend first semester?

I am absolutely horrible at math, but I managed to barely pass AP Calculus BC. Will taking Econ 1 my first semester be a bad idea? I took AP Statistics too and had some problems with certain concepts. Phase I just ended and I chose Econ 1 over UGBA10 because I was told that UGBA was super competitive and difficult to get a good grade in, but my memorizing skills are better than my math skills. Would it be possible for me to drop Econ 1 and add UGBA10 if it’s still open during Phase 2? If so, would that be a wise decision?
