Fretting

Hey there everyone!

So, I recently recieved an acceptance and a VERY nice aid package to Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. The only trouble is that I've wanted to attend Whitman forever but can't get out to visit in a timely manner, so I actually can't see the school pre-admissions. I was considering accepting Linfield's offer and paying so I can get into the dorm of my choice (considering Whitman doesn't make decision until the first week of April) but am torn. I was pretty much ready to go since Lewis & Clark (who also admitted) didn't give me enough aid to attend and I figured that Whitman's would be more along that line (seeing as my EFC is absurd and Whitman is more prestigous and more expensive than Linfield).

Should I just wait it out, especially considering that Whitman is considered so much "better" than Linfield?

It might be worthwhile to email the admissions office at Whitman (maybe even send them just what you've written here) and ask what range of offer you might qualify if they do admit you. It lets you let them know your motivation and that you have other offers which they might be interested in meeting--or improving upon. I can't see that you really have anything to lose by just asking--in these circumstances

The dorms at Linfield can't be so drastically different that it would be worth a better dorm room to miss a shot at a college you've longed to see.

If you post the same question on the Parent's Forum they will also give you plenty of advice....
