how do you get there? and how do you get back to the airport?

Taxi or Marta train

isnt taxi expensive?

yeah lol, thats why you take MARTA.
What you do is walk to the train terminal of Hartsfield-Jackson, buy the $4 card, get on the train, get off this junction stop, and then take a bus to Emory Village. Its a good 45/50 minute ride, plan accordingly.

anicebreaker,

I have had my daughter routinely take MARTA when she doesn't have much baggage, and take/share a taxi (about $40-45 from Emory to Airport) if she has a lot of luggage (i.e., beginning or end of school year). At certain times, Emory will have free shuttles to the Atlanta Airport, such as breaks. My daughter usually uses the Checker Cab company.

Here's the routine for MARTA:

When you get to the Atlanta Airport, ask/find your way to the MARTA station, which is directly connected to the Airport (you just go from the terminal right to the MARTA Airport station - stop S7).

Get your fare at one of the MARTA fare machines (one-way is $1.75, which includes a bus transfer)

Catch a North-bound Rail Train (trains run North-South or East-West); at the Airport station, you can only catch a North-bound rail train. You will then ride on the North-bound rail train through 13 stops: S7, S6... S1... Five Points Station (which is the central downtown station) ... N1, N2... N6 (which is the Lindbergh Station, and where you get off). Be sure you get your free transfer ticket. This rail train ride will take about 30 minutes.

Ask/find your way to the #6 Lindbergh Bus stop at Lindbergh Station. Take the #6 Bus to Emory. (This bus usually runs every 20 minutes or so, depending on the day/time. Depending on the traffic along Clifton Corridor, Clairmont and No. Decatur, this bus ride is about 15 minutes. The walk to my daughter's dorm room from the bus stop was only 5 minutes.

To go the the Airport, you just reverse the directions. My daughter has had no problems at all with MARTA, but then again she's had no problems with the London Tube or the Paris Metro either. ;-)

You may want to Google MARTA and view their maps, etc.

(BTW, I forgot to mention that an alternative if you have a lot of luggage is to still take the North-South Rail Train, and then just grab a cab at the Lindbergh Station... or if going to the Airport, my daughter spends about $12 for a cab to the Lindbergh station, and then wheels her 2 bags, plus a backpack, onto the South-bound rail train which takes her directly to the Atlanta Airport)

wow...cool =) thanks for the help :)

u can also get on atlanta superior shuttle it's like a van service and only costs 20 bucks..its a lot faster than marta

The shuttle leaves on a regular basis from the Emory Inn and Conference Center Hotel (although a reservation is still recommended). When my D makes a reservation, she has the shuttle pick her up at her dorm and has never had a problem. Another helpful bit of travel info is that there is an Enterprise Rental Car desk downstairs in the Conf. Center Hotel. I find it much quicker to rent and return there rather than the airport -- also cheaper.

Just want to confirm whether or not the info. in this old thread is still “right.” Since it’s been over 2 years, so. . . . Thanks.

Also, does Emory run any shuttles to the airport at holiday getaway time? In particular, interested in Thanksgiving Wed., 11/24/10. And the Sunday after Thanksgiving? If so, what cost, what hours, and how long from pickup to dropoff each way? Thanks again.
