From English major to dental school?

I've heard that you can major in something like business or English -- both of which are not "science-related," and you can still make it into dental school if you take a set of required classes and you take some kind of test. Is this true? Have you done it or know someone who has? How would you go about choosing your classes and all that? Thanks for the help!

Yes, you can major in English. You can major in whatever you want so long as you take the classes needed for dental school. However, you have to possess a good science GPA (>3.5) and a good overall GPA. You also have to take the DAT (Dental Admissions Test). And if you expect to gain admission into dental school, your going to have to do amazing on the test (>20). Although you can major in whatever you want, the majority of successful applicants who gain admission into dental school majored in biology/biological sciences. Personally, I would just major in biology or another science related subject because its easier to fulfill the requirements that way. Secondly, the more upper division biology classes you take, the more competitive your application. Lastly, it would make easier for your first year in dental school. And the first year is a NIGHTMARE! I hope I answered your questions.
