What major should I go into if I want to go to dental school?

Hi everyone,

I am currently a high school senior and I am applying to different colleges. I aspire to become a dentist. At first, I decided I would major in something like biology, chemistry, etc. However, after reading some articles, I noticed that people say the major does not matter, and that dental schools look for diversity. I’ve seen people even say that a good major would be “business” or “social sciences” or something along the lines of that. Is this a good decision? For example, say I was to be a business major also doing pre-dental, would this be an excessive amount of courses I have to take, due to the fact that the business major does not include any pre dental courses?( such as organic chemistry/ Cal 1,2) Is it better to major in a science field so that I can knock out both pre dental courses and the major’s requirement courses? Or, should I major in something " easier" and also take the required courses for pre dental? I am not to sure on how all of this works, so any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Caleb Lee

Pre-meds have this same issue…I would say to major something that interests you. Are you interested in Bio or Chem? then major in it. If you couldn’t be a dentist, then what would you do? Maybe go business.
