from NYU to UC??

i am going into my second year at NYU. im currently undecided... ive thought about going pre-med but im not sure if its for me and i also feel like its too late!

because of costs, i am applying for junior-year tranfers to UCs (im a california resident).

i am interested in science fields but have been taking very general classes in humanity fields. this year i will be taking more rigorous science courses.

some stats:
on the dean's list all first-year (~3.7 gpa)
1970 SATs
only AP credit for french language

ive been reading that because im applying from a 4 yr private college i will have a harder time being accepted. of course i'd love to go to UCB and UCLA, but i will also be applying to UCSB and UCD (which i was guaranteed admissions to out of high school and got into honor programs)

im wondering what my chances are, and just looking for any advice of what i should do to better my chances... and if my undeclared status harms my choices--- if not what do i write about in the essay about your major.

THANKS SO MUCH

its doable, but I thin you would have a much better chance if you came back and went to a ccc for a full year. You will have much higher priority, and I would bet you would easily get into UCLA or UCB. Its hard to tell from an out of state school though.
For ucsb and ucd (and probably ucsd) I think you would likely get in from nyu. But really, its hard to tell. I have seen some high gpa's get turned down from out of state uni's.

NYU is a great school, but if your heart is set on doing this, the best thing to do is come back to community college....at least from what I have seen. Hopefully some others chime in though. Dont leave that school for a ccc unless you are absolutely sure of what you want to do.

Ucla has almost a 40% transfer acceptance rate. I don't know what they look for, but it has surprisingly good odds. NYU is a good school too. You should be alright, but who knows.
