Frosh Ghettoes?

I think it's really important to meet and bond with my classmates. It looks like Williams has that all set up (WOOLF, orientation, putting all the frosh together in two areas, JAs, and entries). I'm a little concerned about how I will meet upperclass students other than on my sports team (which is also going to take up every afternoon so that there will be a lot of college stuff I can't do).

I don't guess the upper classes come down to eat at Mission much. Will I feel comfortable randomly eating at Greylock or Driscoll? Am I likely to have non-frosh in my classes? Are the quad and Mission going to feel like frosh ghettoes? Will the sophomores look down on us?

Sorry. I have been looking forward to this so much but now I guess I'm getting a little anxious. This morning I suddenly remembered transitioning from junior high school to high school and had one of those "freshman moments" I could do without ever experiencing again. Maybe I've just had too many APs and too little sleep.

Still, I'd appreciate current students' thoughts.

You will have non-frosh in your classes. You will eat at Greylock and Driscoll all the time and have no qualms about it. You'll meet upperclassmen on your sports team, you'll meet their friends, you'll meet your JA's friends, and you'll meet upperclassmen in whatever other activities you may pursue. Sure, you'll probably meet more people in your own class, but that's probably true everywhere. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'm a freshman and my physics and math classes have been almost all frosh/sophomores. But I've met students from all class years in my drawing class.

Last fall, I dined mostly at Mission - that's where all the entries/freshmen went. But this semester - I've had almost all my meals at Greylock, and some at Driscoll. And this semester, I've seen more and more freshmen dining at Greylock. Paresky's the most popular now, though.
