@ctstudent my neighbors son was in this program, there is a dorm for pathways students. I am in state,my son plans to live in an apartment walking distance to fsu. He will drive to TCC. There are many dorm like apartments there. 4/4 apartments. As far as your adjustment, Im not sure, I would call. My son has a Florida prepaid.
Applied through the C.A.R.E. program. Accepted into the SCHOOL but not the CARE program? I am confused. Why would I have been rejected from the program? Is there any chance to appeal that?
My fafsa never had fsu on it until two days ago when I made the correction. Will they still give me a decision?
@pbmcdoug UPDATE RE FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIP
I just got off the phone with FSU Admissions and apparently there was a decision made this morning that the Freshman Scholarship would only apply to instate applicants. Total disappoint to OOS applicants and too bad they did not share this earlier as it could clearly sway plans to apply.
So I am so confused. My son’s letter says After careful review of your application, we would like to offer you admission to the university for the summer 2018 term, which begins on June 25th and ends on August 3rd. By accepting our summer offer you will be able to enroll in the fall as a continuing Florida State student. If you would like to accept our summer admission offer, please complete this summer offer acceptance web form on the application status page by March 5th. By accepting the summer offer, formal admission to the university will be granted in your acceptance packet will be mailed to you. Admitted students have until May 1st to confirm their enrollment in our freshman class. We look forward having you as a student at Florida State University.
So! Please tell me what this means? When will he know financial aid information? He is in state. Is do not see the web form anywhere.
Can you give me more info on FSU pathways? Is there a dorm on campus for pathways students and is there free transportation to TTC?
@Jojosmother - I have the exact same questions as you do. I did not see anything about financial aid, and so far there is no link to accept the summer offer. Maybe the portal will be updated shortly???
Okay the link finally popped up! Financial aid info is given after acceptance
Got accepted for Fall 2018 with the University Freshman Scholarship! #NowANole
Instate resident
1500 SAT
34 ACT
3.92 UW/ 4.9 W GPA
Congrats to all those accepted no matter what program it is through!
@Jojosmother, my niece (now a senior) was accepted for the summer term her freshman year, and she explained it’s a way for FSU to extend admission to kids they believe would do well, but whose scores/stats might “drag down” the profile (based on Fall semester matriculation) that the school has to report to the US News-type organizations. No one likes to head to school in June, but she found it helped her acclimate to FSU and gave her the feeling of being a step ahead of the Fall students that eventually matriculated. She assures me there was no lingering distinction between Summer and Fall term admits.
I have twins who both applied for the 2018 fall term. D was accepted with the Freshman scholarship (35 ACT, 1470 SAT, 3.9 GPA; no idea of how FSU might recalculate, but lots of honors and APs) (BTW, we, too, were mistakenly listed as not having Florida residency). S was rejected (24 ACT, 1180 SAT, 3.2 GPA). Fortunately, he’s got several other options.
i was denied.
OOS
93 weighted GPA
All honors and AP
1250 SAT
extensive amount of volunteer hours
many ecs
pretty confused, considering appealing it
@FPAparent look at the application information page, it will be under forms and have “Required” in red. When you click on that it explains that they get more applications than they can accommodate for fall. So it’s. A great thing for these kiddos! Good luck. This has been the most stressful day ever!
@Jojosmother - Thank you! Yes, the like just showed up on the app page under FORMS. It was not there earlier. Best of luck!
@Jojosmother - OK, I know this might sound silly, but the summer offer acceptance states it is NON-Binding. So… does this mean my son could accept the summer offer, but if he later changes his mind, it’s OK to potentially accept an offer an another school? He could ACCEPT now, get formal admittance, and then have till May 1st to confirm, right? He is not 100% sure yet as he wants to hear back from ALL schools before making a final decision.
Did you get the web form. My son got the same thing but there is no web form
@Futureismine - the web form link finally showed up on the application status page under FORMS. It was several hours after the link to the letter.
@Ctstudent18 So it wasn’t a mistake, I guess they had too many wonderful applicants this year. We have a few options, so we could study abroad for a semester or for a year, we could go to Panama City for the Summer and Fall terms, or we can go to community college. If you do the study abroad you will qualify for instate tuition.
Accepted - FSU Weighted GPA 4.21 SAT 1370 Lots of AICE, AP classes, (you know the drill) . No $$ offered.
How do I check my financial aid package? I only see the link to"view update" which takes me to my letter. I got in for summer… Does that explain why it’s not there?
@SAD1010 97 gpa with 6 ap and around 8 honors (most i coupd have i think) and a 31 act. very strong essays/lor and tons of extra curricular/service hrs.
