FSU class of 2025 admission and decision discussion

Will FSU be stating that you get the OOS tuition waiver in your acceptance letter? Or does that come later on? If anyone knows haha

With that conversion for weighted grades, I think that gives DD a 4.28. She had a rough last 2 trimesters doing school from home, I’m hoping the drop in grades from that won’t hurt too bad. Her ACT was 29, so kind of average by the looks of it. Still fingers crossed.

Good luck to everyone else today!

I’ve been searching for the OOS accept rate and I have not been able to find it. I do see that last year, OOS students made up about 19% of the total student population. This is different than saying OOS students have a 19% accept rate.

Yes that is more promising!

@amsunshine,

Thank you! Making up 19% is a very different story than a 19% acceptance rate.

Will it be obvious in the portal when you log in? I just checked since you mentioned it, even though it will not be posted until after 4 most likely. It does look different in that it no longer says that it is in review and a decision will be posted on 2/18. But it does not say anything else, and doesn’t appear to be another link to click on to view status.

They just tweeted:

We don’t want to interrupt your Zoom classes, so admission decisions will be released later this afternoon, once students are out of school for the day. Don’t forget to record your reaction and share it with #NowANole and #FSU25! https://twitter.com/FSUAdmissions/status/1362434194035666955/photo/1

Do you think FSU is selective with OOS high stat students being it would mean OOS tuition waivers?

I don’t think so. It seems that after evaluating the applicants, they create a score (SAT/ACT) and GPA threshold to get the waiver (I assume with a few exceptions). I think last year it was 1390 SAT and 4.0 GPA (FSU recalculated).

Two years ago my son applied and was admitted for engineering with the OOS waiver. He’s at Alabama but - the admittance letter included the OOS waiver.

Honestly it’s AWESOME but FSU tuition is reasonable even if you don’t get - and comparable to some schools that give you $$.

Yes, last year it was 19% OOS.

The ACT #s and GPA #s are higher than you see on 3rd party sites. Last night someone posted a really nice table and it showed GPA/ACT by term admitted - i.e. if you have a lower one, you might get admitted but have to start in the summer.

I’m not sure if the 19% includes any admission or just fall admission. I assume it includes only fall - but they have summer and spring admits you can be offered.

Good luck to all of you! Especially all of you that are out of state! I’m a Florida resident, but I also applied to OOS schools so I know your pain : ((

Does anyone know if decisions today also notify if you are chosen as Presidential Scholar finalist?

I just refreshed and it says my decision is ready but there is nothing there.
