FSU class of 2025 admission and decision discussion

No , they unfortunately do not consider legacy status in their decision.

Does anybody know what time they will start to send out emails ?

Good luck, everyone! My son just submitted his application last night. Hopefully, there are still some spots left over.

@labradoodlemom and @prettyittybitty3 - in my experience with this year and prior years with other kid (and other schools) the emails often come hours after the decisions appear in the portal. I think FSU said decisions will be in the portal late afternoon. I plan to check starting at 4EST (or whenever this chat lights up!)

Raise your hand if you already checked the portal today…

That may have happened already lol

Just contacted the Office of Admissions. They are not stating any specific time lol but they did said to expect decisions in the next 5-9 hours timeframe. I am an international student and I might have to stay awake until 3 am for decision! Insomnia will kill be before anxiety.

Thank you for sharing! Oh boy. As if the incessant portal checking wasn’t going to happen before that line from Admissions. This should be fun!

I did see an AO post on Reddit that they can’t specify a time due to them not knowing exactly when everything will be ready. I don’t remember the exact wording, but it seemed like an IT thing. Good luck, everyone!

FSU here too! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Nice to see you! I’m feeling EXACTLY the same way. What a long wait this has been! It will be a long day…I have the European time difference too ! Good luck to you and your daughter! :innocent:

Is this true?

I am so nervous. FSU was supposed to be a likely school, but nothing seems likely anymore. I would love to go there, but I’m afraid after rejections from Vandy and UVA

Does anyone have a valid source or article that shows the OOS acceptance rate? I think I read on this forum that it’s 20% but that seems unreasonably low

I read that last year OOS rate was just 19%. Ouch.

I read on a tweet response that the FSU admissions responded to and said it would be released when most kids are out of school.

The 4.0 needed for the OOS waiver is based on FSU’s recalculated GPA, but the people posting about admissions are showing their high school’s weighted GPA. For example, my weighted GPA is 4.4 but my FSU recalculated GPA is 4.5.

can you explain how FSU recalculates GPA? thanks

Add .5 for honors CORE only subjects. Add 1.0 for all AP/IB/AICE and Dual enrollment.

Is that 19% of all acceptances or 19% of the out of state applicants?

Take a normal GPA weighting scale, and add 1 point for AP/IB/AICE/DualE courses, and add 0.5 points for Honors or pre-AP/IB/AICE courses. They use all AP/IB/AICE/DualE courses and honors and below courses from core subject areas.

@labradoodlemom , I understood it to mean that if you applied from OOS last year, your chance of acceptance was 19%. But I’d like to see the numbers to be sure.
