There was another school, about two weeks ago, whose IT people were reading CC while they were updating the system. One student in the forum noted that their portal had said one thing, then switched back to another. Another poster saw the same thing.
Suddenly, on the botton of everybody’s portal, the words WHAT DOES IT MEAN showed up. Then disappeared.
Another poster said it looks like the IT people are entertaining themselves this morning. Everybody’s portal then read IT IS AFTERNOON NOT MORNING.
And it went on with new messages appearing and going away in the portal for maybe ten minutes. Somebody said this is just like the kid in Stranger Things… Maybe we all need to pull out our Christmas lights… The person used a bunch of periods in the post.
Suddenly, the portals all looked like this at the bottm

It was hilarious! Great stress reliever. Good luck to all and Go Noles!
Yeah! I could explain, but I’ll just quote FSU:
“The GPA we calculate is your Academic Core GPA. It includes all the grades earned in core subject areas (English, math, social science, natural science, and world language) as well as any additional grades earned in non-core subjects if they are taken at the AP, IB, AICE, or Dual Enrollment level. We add a half-point weight to any grade of C- or above earned in a Pre-AP/IB/AICE or Honors course, and we add a full-point weight to any grade of C- or above earned in AP/IB/AICE or Dual Enrollment courses.”
Can someone explain a ‘summer’ offer to me… Canadian and our universities do not do this here. If a student gets a summer offer can they still stay in dorms in fall and participate in freshman activities etc like a normal fall admission?? I don’t get this at all.
Summer is the same as any other offer. You just start in June and do a summer session. You are 100% accepted. You go back for fall and spring just like everyone else. It’s just the first summer not every summer.
A summer offer means that you will have to start taking classes during this summer. Yes, you will be in a dorm and then start in the fall like any other kid.
So why do they do this… they’d still be in the 2025 numbers. I don’t see reason behind schools doing this other than the obvious, revenue stream in the summer months. And why would students be selected for this rather than the request Fall 2021 date?
I’m not 100% about FSU, but I know that Penn State does summer admits for students that don’t meet the minimum requirements for fall admission (i.e. might not have enough math courses or language courses)
