D got an email today advising she should log into her portal to make sure everything was correct prior to decisions coming Feb 18. Also indicated is how to update self reported scores, change major, etc.
yep, kind of thought it was a decision at first!! scared me!!!
Same!!! So 2/18 it is!
Has anyone here visited both FSU and UofSC? How do the campuses compare? On paper there seem to be a lot of similarities, but hard to tell. We saw UofSC preCovid, and D liked it, so thatâs our frame of reference. We hope to visit FSU if she gets in.
In the same boat as you @kdzmom If she gets into FSU, weâll have to scoot down there for a visit. I donât think theyâre doing tours yet?
We visited both but it was hard to compare because when we visited UofSC classes were in session and there were students everywhere (pre-covid). When we visited FSU it was late August (still pre-covid) and the kids werenât back yet so the campus was very quiet. I think our biggest take away for comparison didnât have anything to do with the campus but rather the surrounding area. We really liked the feel of Columbia, SC and all it had to offer beyond campus. We had the opposite feeling with FSU and thought that there wouldnât be many reasons or opportunities to go off campus. But perhaps someone with more first hand knowledge would better be able to answer the question than me.
My daughter is going to look
At FSU and UofSc feb 10 week
I donât think FSU is doing tours, but saw something on their visit us page that suggest they may offer them for admitted students after 2/19. I guess weâll see. Look forward to any impressions you may share after your visits.
Were they supposed to update their grades from fall semester?
@vstoby the email we got yesterday said they will let us know if we need to send fall grades.
I just read on website that seniors submit senior year grades if they are admitted.
Mine got into and visited UofSC in November and is awaiting FSU. Not going to visit unless she gets in
Has anyone visited campus/surrounding area?
I have! The campus is absolutely beautiful and about one square mile. Totally manageable. Dorms are suite style and very nice. A brand new student union should be open by fall. Surrounding area is nothing special. Tallahassee isnât that great. There was a very cute little area with bars and restaurants.
I applied on on 1/13 and received an email that I will find out on feb 18. Am I considered early action?
Well, thatâs when EA results are coming out but your app sounds late so thatâs a good question.
I thought that deadline was dec 1?
I donât think FSU had an EA period. The Dec. 1 deadline was RD in which applicants would hear by Feb. 18. If submitting after Dec. 1, applicants would hear on rolling basis beginning in March.
If you submitted on 1/13 and were told you will still hear on 2/18, I wonder if that is indicative of a lower number of applicants?
@sec130 Agreed. I saw a tweet from FSU within the last week promoting a March 1 application deadline, and thought the same thing.
My son only just applied today. I wish I could have convinced him to apply earlier but he wasnât too thrilled with the humid weather. We are OOS so I am guessing this is a long shot. After reading your posts I have a question. Are the requirements/standards different for OOS? His SAT took a beating with covid and is only 1320 sounds like that isnât good enough? His GPA is 4.77 weighted.
