With that gpa Arizona would be $30k. They use unweighted. 1 B cost my daughter.
Full to Wisconsin is AMAZING. congrats
Each school is different. Where most are similar is they weight honors .5 more and AP 1 more point. So an honors A is 4.5. An AP Is five
Where schools differ and jut go to the admissions tab…u will read what each school counts…some count just 10th and 11th. Some just certain classes. My daughter took AP Seminar and Reaearch. Some didn’t count.
@stacysmom21 Wow! She sounds like an incredible student/athlete. I am shocked. Wisconsin is a fantastic school. If she really wants FSU, I’d reach out to Admissions to find out what happened. Something doesn’t seem right.
@tsbna44 she received $35K at U of Arizona. 4.0 Abor gpa because she exceeded the History and Science requirements so they took the best out of all (her 2 B’s were in History and Science). Based on what they look for she meets all the requirements. AP Calc BC, 6 yrs of world language, GPA and SAT within range. All her AP’s except AP Psych and AP Spanish were in core courses. No fluff. Again I don’t think i’m being unrealistic but I guess we will have to accept it and move on.
Az is a great school and the price is right. Go see it. Tucson a neat city with great desert. And all schools are close. Transportation mode may be different but travel time all are reasonable.
$35k almost full tuition. Not sure y more from the South don’t look there.
I get FSU is ranked 58th. Arizona about #100. But I assure u if two kids apply for a job and those are their schools both will be seen equally.
to UGAmom91 – i dont have a kid in the mix this year; but last year my OOS kid got that waiver; and my D23 is curious about the school. Thank you for sharing about what you found out, I’ll remember this for my D. I hope you can figure a way to rectify it if you want; and it sounds like your kid has done really well through HS. good luck
Dragon222 curious about the merit piece when not submitting test scores. We chose to submit test scores, because it fell in the mid range of previously admitted (1320 SAT) and didn’t get much merit. Did you qualify for merit without submitting test scores?
My daughter was accepted into Summer as well. I am curious of your questions too. I tried to call on Friday but it said they were too busy. I read on someones post that you were only required to take 6 hours, 2 classes for summer.
Well the U California system schools are giving merit without test scores. I believe traditionally test scores were factored in to the scholarship decision.
Florida, is I believe, the only state not test optional. The person who noted that is correct - if you apply to any public school in Florida this year with no test score (and many did), their application cannot be accepted for admission.
I actually spoke with admissions yesterday, and they said that there would be no way for him to earn the scholarship because of his C. He exceeded both the GPA and ACT requirements, but they have a hardline this year for only A/B students. I am annoyed because we never would have even had him consider FSU if that had been the case. Obviously, we knew he had a C that can never “disappear”. Disappointed for my son who set the bar high to meet the requirements only to have them changed.
