D reports that if you change your temporary FSUID to your official FSUID, you also get an FSUSN (FSU student number) and an email address. Once you have your email address you can send and receive email, and will start to receive official FSU emails sent to the student body as a whole. And you can join the FSU network on facebook.

This all can happen once you pay the $200 nonrefundable admissions (not housing) deposit.

with the fsu email you also get your login for blackboard which basically gives you access to your whole student history..accounts,transcripts, degrees, classes, grades, finanacial aid everything..so doing it is a good idea.

If you activate your e-mail early, you can get your initials+08@fsu.edu. I got btm07@fsu.edu, but if anyone else has the same initials they get btm07a, btm07b, etc... Having an address without the letter at the end was cool, that is at least one less letter to type while logging in to Blackboard 1000+ times daily lol.
