Thx for the info! Unfortunately orientation is required… I just hope there is an update to my status tomorrow Dream big right?! Lol

It was updated two weeks ago, I actually ended up finding out that they didn’t have all my transcripts. They didn’t receive all my paperwork till after they denied me and they asked if I wanted to be reevaluated and I said no. But it was around the 11th.

Thanks for the info! You should’ve had them re-evaluate you.

Ugh I am still waiting for a status update :/

@EileenM Did you hear anything back yet

Hey I got in My status changed yesterday

how long did it take for them to answer ?

im still waiting, doesnt even sent it was sent to a particular department yet, just that all my stuff has been received.

Hello out there! My name is Alyssa and I am starting the application process for the Spring 2012 term at FSU. I am currently finishing my AA degree at FSCJ (Jacksonville community college) with one class to go! As of August, I will have received my AA with at best a 3.4 GPA, at worst 3.1. I am so incredibly nervous about acceptance that I’ve begun to drive my family nuts! I’ve done my best to narrow my many concerns to the questions below. Thanks, all–

My GPA is decent at the community college level but I’ve heard that FSU will include the F’s I have received and will not honor grade recovery (failed attempts that I re-did to receive a higher grade). If that’s the case, my GPA will drop to a 2.4 according to FSU’s calculations. However, I am hopeful that as an AA transfer the GPA requirement is only a 2.0?

I am planning on e-mailing an admissions counselor, specifically the Women’s Studies department about my interest in FSU. Any advice on proper e-mail format or examples of effective communication as a perspective student?

Are there any additional factors that could help sway my acceptance into FSU? For instance, submitting an essay and recommendation letters?

Thank you to any and all who take the time to read or respond to this. I can’t begin to express how grateful I am for any advice and information that you are willing to share!

GO NOLES!

Transferred from FIU
Major: Psychology
Year: sophomore (30 credits)
College GPA: 3.2
HS GPA: 4.6
ACT: 33

I got accepted in January, but I’m waiting to see whether or not I want to transfer to UF instead

Alyssa, I applied a while ago and was denied even though I was going to earn my AA from a FL school…they said a 2.94 was too low and to re-apply when my GPA is above a 3.0 …I reapplied with a 3.5 and got in… Good luck!

stillllllllllll waiting.

Thanks, Eileen! Congrats on your Seminole status What you said makes perfect sense and is the direction I’ve been leaning towards. Good news is my GPA should be around a 3.3 and I will have obtained my AA as I apply for Spring 12. Fingers are crossed!! Thanks again :)

I found out this morning I was admitted, and just in case my situation helps someone, here are my stats:
Transferring with my A.A. (Graduating this semester)
My cumulative GPA right now is around 2.85 (this is what FSU used when making their admissions decision)
My GPA at my current community college is 3.2
Major: Philosophy
Not a limited access major

I started a thread on here a few months back asking for opinions on my chances at FSU because I was worried about my GPA. I have made straight A’s for the past year and a half, so I don’t know if the upward trend was a factor in their decision or not. I know their website states the minimum GPA for transfer admissions is 3.0, but it is definitely 2.0 WITH an A.A. So, I am living proof that you can turn things around and end up at a wonderful institution!

Congratulations!

I think your choice of major probably helped ( not limited access ). It sounds like an AA is still a great way for people to have a chance to turn a new leaf.

Thank you! :-)

Yeah, if I had been applying for a limited access major, this story would have had a different ending. Lol. But, I’m very happy I got in!

I should also mention that I found out I was accepted around 10AM yesterday morning, and by the end of the day, my financial aid offer for the upcoming school year had already been posted. I am thrilled with FSU so far. They are really on the ball and have made transferring a wonderful experience.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear a decision!

Hi Amanda! Congrats on your acceptance!! Thanks for sharing your personal stats-- they have certainly helped boost my confidence as I anxiously await my fate. My stats are very similar to your’s but my GPA is around a 3.12 at my CC so hopefully that will be sufficient. I also applied to a non-limited access major in the college of social sciences (international affairs). I am nervous beyond belief but its exciting news like this that keep me hopeful! Good luck and GO NOLES!

When did you apply? Just wondering about how long it took from the date you applied to find out. Thanks!!

I’m sure your GPA will be more than sufficient if your major is not limited access! I know the process is very nerve-wracking, but you don’t have anything to worry about!

I applied back in January. I have been to five colleges (my husband was in the military) so it took a while for them to get all of my transcripts processed. Then, I was told I needed to send an updated transcript when the Spring semester ended in May. At some point in June they told me they needed my CLEP transcript since the course I CLEPed was part of my A.A. They have had all my documents since the 3rd week of June. So, once they had everything they needed, it took about 3 weeks. What made this process so protracted was them taking a while to collate everything and figure out what more they needed from me. I guess I should have seen the CLEP thing coming but it is posted on my transcript at the community college I’m getting my A.A. from, so I thought that would suffice. They seem to be pretty busy this time of year, because my husband has had all of his documents in since June 6th and his file has not even been forwarded to his department. I think I just got lucky and my file was grabbed off someone’s desk and moved along. Hang in there, it should be soon!

MAJOR: Computer Criminology / Minor: Music
GPA: 3.55
AA DEGREE YES/NO/TO BE COMPLETED: Completed this summer
SCHOOL TRANSFERRING FROM: Broward College to FSU
ACCEPTED/DENIED/PENDING: Accepted the first of June

I was starting to doubt if I was going to get in… I don’t know why they took so long in accepting me when I had started my application in early March. But oh well, I am glad I got in! I am really looking forward to meeting a lot of people and being on my own in a different environment :)

Kind of off-topic, but when are spring 2013 transfer applicants typically notified? I have a friend (honest!) who is looking to to transfer from UCF. I know the deadline is November 1st.
