FSU Film School - 2016

My son just submitted his application to FSU’s film school. He is sticking in-state. So, he will also apply to UCF. Just thought I would post something for those of us who will be waiting. Any others out there?

I submitted my FSU film app yesterday! Good luck to your soon!

Good luck to you as well. I hope a few others stumble upon this post. If you can, update this on Dec 8th regarding whether or not you cleared the first hurdle and got accepted into the University.

Truthfully, my son’s math SAT score has me slightly concerned. His GPA and reading/writing SAT are both decent. His math score, while not horrible, puts his total SAT score at lower than the average for FSU.

@bcnbound Today’s the day for FSU admission decisions…the first hurdle to getting into the film school. Good luck!

Goodluck to you too! I hope we both make it and can go to the next step. Let’s update this forum when we know! @jrmutley

@bcnbound My son was accepted for the Summer! I’ll have to have him email admissions or the film school to see how that affects the film school approval process.

I’ll continue to update this instead of starting a new thread, in case any other FSU film school applicants come across it. Although, maybe the subject header should have said 2017 since that is the HS graduating year of these applicants. Oh well…

My son received an email from the film school on Wednesday indicating that they are close to making decisions for the interview stage. They expect to send out those notifications by the end of next week.

Definitely going to follow this thread as my daughter will be starting this process in the next couple years. Would love to learn as much as we can about what it takes to get that all important interview spot! Good luck to everyone waiting to hear.

@cruzanlady I will definitely update this for you if he gets invited to the interview. The other person who commented on this thread hasn’t said anything since FSU announced their acceptance decisions on December 8th. Guessing he may have not gotten in.

Hey! I’ve been following this thread but havent commmented in a while. I did get into FSU for the fall and got that email last week! We’ll see if something happens this week!

Awesome…congrats!

My daughter received her invite to interview for the BFA in Film Production yesterday and will interview on Feb 25th in Tallahassee. Any other CCers get an invite?

@WWWard Not yet. Was it received via email? Congrats to your daughter!

Thanks, @jrmutley

Yes… via email. And you then are supposed to reply only by email, letting them know which of the 6 offered time slots you may be able to attend in-person.

From what I have read, they only invite 48 for interviews in hopes of ending up with 30 enrolled students for that particular program eventually. That’s less than even what USC enrolls for its BFA in production.

Hopefully they are sending only a few each day to try and lock applicants into certain time slots. So good luck to your son… hopefully he will also receive such an email today or through Friday…

@WWWard Unless they have changed things, it is actually about 20 selected incoming freshmen from the pool of interviewees. The remaining 10 (to account for the 30 student class size) is reserved for transfer students. Potential transfers are in a pool of their own.

My son got his FSU interview invite today! He will interview March 10th.

@jrmutley interesting. and even harder to gain admission then… lol

@loribale Congrats!

@WWWard @loribale Just curious…are all of the offered times in the email the same day or do they give you a selection of dates? If you had a choice of dates, what were they?

@jrmutley there are 3 dates, Feb 24th, March 10th and March 24th, all but March 24th have morning and afternoon sessions to pick from. My son is requesting March 10th, am.

Thanks for the response and congrats to your son!
