Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment...accepted to the #3 film school in the US.

Welcome to the Tribe.

Wow! Congratulations! Can you tell us a little about some of your film & academic accomplishments that helped you get chosen to such a prestigious program?

parent2noles: from what you say "welcome to the tribe", can i assume you are or was affiliated with FSU film? if that is the case, how is it?

cybermom: my portfolio
academic:
gpa: 3.9 unweighted

other than that, in the creative portfolio list i had to submit, i had numerous screenplays, plays, stories, poems etc.

No, sorry - I have only scant knowledge of the Film School. About all I know is that it's beastly hard to be admitted to and that the students work extremely hard there.

The "Tribe" refers to being a Seminole. As an alumnus, I too am in the Tribe.

I would be interested in the average stats of that school and the financial aid situation. My D may be looking at it for 2008.

StickFigure: Your STATS are very impressive. I am sure others who are interested in this program appreciate seeing how competitive admission is. You not only have to have creative talent and experience, you have to have excellent test scores and grades as well. "Break a Leg".

I do believe that my test scores and such had an effect on the decision, but it all depends. I rather think that the interview had a great deal of influence. Its not totally about what you've said till then, it what you want to tell tomorrow.

I agree 100% with cybermom, congrats! you should be extremly proud of yourself =]

I would agree - test scores and grades alone will not get you admitted. You must have the compellingly creative spirit they want and be able to focus it into your work.

By the way...get your housing priority number asap from the housing website, even if you're going to live off campus. You only get one shot at that number and it lasts your entire undergraduate stay.

thanks.
well, its a creative field, depending on the position you want to fill in the future, i believe the requirements differ greatly. Some may not need a strong academic background while others may.

thanks about the housing number, i got that a while ago.
anyone else get replies from fsu film?
