FSU Housing Fall 2012/Spring 2013 Returning Assignments Available

For those that are current on-campus residents and applied for Fall 2012/Spring 2013 Housing, you should be able to see your assignments.

Steps:
1. Click this link: https://cfprd.oti.fsu.edu/dsa/HouAssignment/
2. Login with your Blackboard login info.
3. Your housing assignment should be listed, in a format similar to this:

You have been assigned to Room [X] [Y] Hall, Bed [Z] for Fall 2012. You may move into your assignment beginning on August 22, 2012.

Your roommates are:
[roommate 1]
[roommate 1 email]

etc

Hope everyone got what they wanted!

DS got into Traditions. That was hoped for but not expected. Good news.

How long has he lived on campus? Did he apply to live in Traditions over the summer?

I know that a lot of people that I talked to that were looking into living in Traditions next year balked when I told them it was going to be $3500/semester.

He is a freshman. He lived on-campus for Fall 2011 and is doing a semester abroad this semester.

He applied during the open period this year. I think it was in late February. It is more expensive than Wildwood, where he lived first semester, but is much larger.

I’m surprised he got into Traditions then. It was mentioned that current first-year on campus students wouldn’t even be considered for Traditions during their Open House a few weeks ago, because of how many upperclassmen were expected to apply. I guess they didn’t get anywhere near as many people as they expected (then again, at the price, I’m not surprised).

Congrats to him though in getting into Traditions.

When will they have assignments up for Summer A housing? Hopefully soon.

Since the Summer housing applications don’t close till next Friday, I’d expect them to be released the following week most likely. They don’t list a timetable on the Housing website, but since you have to cancel by April 20, I would expect they’d give you at least a week to decide.

Pasbal- Maybe it made a difference that he will have junior level credits at the end of this semester even though he is finishing his first year.

We expected that he had no chance at Traditions or Ragans. He fully expected to be back at Wildwood.

Credits aren’t a factor, since housing uses your original application date and priority number for assignments as long as you’re on campus. I think you have mentioned that his priority number was something like 1300 this year? It could be that a LOT of people are moving off-campus or are still choosing Ragans or McCollum.
I am still surprised he got into Traditions (and I would be willing to bet that Housing is as well) but I really think it boils down to Traditions being way too high for what it is- a very cramped 2 person apartment. I know that some people I talked to were considering Traditions but ended up either moving off campus or applying for McCollum.
I am glad to hear that he got what he wanted. I hope he enjoys being one of the first residents in the building.

Are the bedrooms at Traditions going to be bigger than Ragans?
My room in ragans was tiny. And the twin-xl was horrible.

I’m going to be a freshman in the fall, would my rooming information be available?

Incoming resident housing information (for Fall) will not be released until early July, according to Housing. The deadline to apply hasn’t passed yet and they don’t do housing assignments until after the applications close.

Sid, I took a tour of a typical Traditions apartment during the Open House, and I have to say that I thought the rooms in Ragans were slightly larger (although they are roughly the same size). The common area in Traditions is nowhere near the same size as the common area in Ragans. The bathroom is absolutely tiny in Traditions (and really oddly shaped for some reason).

The best way I think I’ve heard anyone put it was that Traditions was “cozy” and that wasn’t a positive. For what it costs and what is there, I think Traditions is overpriced.

FSUDad1, my son is going to be in Traditions as well! He’ll be a junior and toyed with moving off campus, but he was in Ragans this year and really appreciated how central he was to everything.

Bonald- Mine did as well but the last space available with friends fell through. I’m sure he will live off campus the following year. He loved the location of Wildwood (likes lunches at the Figg and uses Leach everyday) so Traditions will be ideal for him. Plus all of the construction in that area will be completed so it will be more tranquil.
