investorscooter, there is a typo above, the 4000 should be 5000. I did not catch that.
They already did reduce the incoming class size. For the incoming freshman class 2007-2008 (FSU class of 2011) they accepted 6000+. For the incoming freshman class of 2008-2009 (FSU class of 2012) they accepted 5000+. If you browse this FSU board on CC back a lttle, you will see where FSU announced the class reduction in size. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/florida-state-university/452824-enrollments-cuts-likely-fsu-6200-5200-ftic.html?highlight=budget+cutsAnd And reduce they did. They offered less acceptances, and based on computer projections, they knew about how many to offer to get a class size that was acceptable. I suspect this year, they are adjusting the numbers so that they stay at 5000+/-. With more kids staying instate, they will probably have a higher yield. So they may offer a few less acceptances if the percentage that accept go up. And they will go to the waitlist if they need to.

UF decided to reduce their enrollment by 1000 a year also, but elected to reduce the number of transfers instead of the number of freshman.

FSU is not reducing class size again, I just didn’t catch the typo.

oh ok good im already 18 :)

how do you find out your priority number? I signed up for housing like right at midnight.

ok im feeling that with my priority number at 1921 im not going to get into gilchrist and maybe not broward, which are my #1 and #2 choices, respectively. so my the other two i picked were deviney and dorman. i like that all my choices are central but can anyone shed any light on deviney and dorman?

chelseaaarebecca: the priority number is on your completed housing agreement. you can see it by logging into the housing portal and clicking “view my completed agreement”. The number is in red at the top.

i got 2416 :(

i hope i get into landis…

but there is a 2nd floor bridge between Landis and Gilchrist?
are the rooms in those halls comparable?

Those numbers seem pretty high…you might look into applying for the learning community at Bryan Hall. same area as Landis and Gilchrist and same type of dorm

Do you guys know how many freshmen can get dorms? I got deferred and so I have to wait until March. But I do intend on signing up for housing as soon as I find out! (If I get in, that is, lol.)

you still want the lowest number you can get. so at the stroke of midnight of the day they say acceptances go out…you get on housing and sign up. just fill in anything to get it done as quickly as possilbe–you can go back and change it later. there will still be a lot of people accepted then and you want to get the lowest number possible. Also, you can apply to learning communities–they are all in renovated or new dorms so if you get accepted into one of those, you have a nice dorm.

does anyone know is Wildwood a larger dorm? Someone told me the rooms are a little larger than some of the older ones.

There’s a second story bridge between Gilchrist and Landis. My son said you can walk through to Gilchrist and exit from one of their doors, but his card would only work to open the doors at Landis.

My daughter lived in Gilchrist, and her card would only open the doors at Gilchrist, but it did open the doors to the bridges between Gilchrist and Landis as well as Gilchrist and Broward. On rainy days she could use the bridges and links between dorms to get all the way to Suwanee to eat without getting wet.

Wildwood is larger than the older dorms on the west side, but about the same size (if not, smaller) than the renovated dorms on the East side (IE: Cawthon, Gilchrist, Jennie Murphee, etc.)

I guess I should have said that my son lived in Landis…that’s why his card only worked in the Landis doors.

I got a housing priority number of 7535 at FSU because I didn’t know until a week after i got accepted that i had to apply for housing
i’m really nervous i won’t get into on-campus housing! i do not have a preference about which dorms i stay in.
do you think i will get in on-campus housing?

try asking that on the housing Facebook page…someone from housing can give you a better idea of how the numbers are running this year.

my number is in the 7100 range, cant remember exactly but i still applied the minute i got my admission (i applied by the jan 19th deadline as FSU wasnt even an option for me until december) dont really know how it works but i have a feeling i should start surveying other housing options…

If it makes anyone feel better, my number is 8011. I called twice and the guy pretty much told me I don’t have a chance, however my aunt called them and told this one lady our situation, and she said “Oh she’ll definately get in, freshmen have first priority”. This is the only time I’ve heard anything like this, and I don’t think it is true. Anyone else hear of this?

No, that’s not true. Upperclassmen get their assignments in two days. You may get in, but you’re going to be waitlisted for a while at best.
