Is there anything that FSU has that UF doesn't? Or something it's specifically known for?

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, national excellence in the Arts and music, a more compact and beautiful campus, close proximity to the political center of Florida (think internships and Session employment with the Florida Legislature), meteorology, actuarial science, the best political science program in Florida, computer criminology, library science, the Film School…lots more.

See, for example: <a href=“Rankings | Florida State University”>Rankings | Florida State University;

What specifically interests you?

FSU is historically more liberal arts oriented than UF, which is one of two state agricultural schools (the other is FAMU, the state HBCU).

Which school is better for graphic design? As far as I’ve heard, if is better I just wanted to make sure

UF is worlds more prestigious than FSU for graphic design.

UF overall is known much more nationally for its prestige than FSU, exemplified through its #53 rank compared to FSU’s #104 in US News National College Rankings.

Ha thanks so much that pretty much makes my decision lol

Um, not really. The difference in prestige between these two schools is mostly magnified by the students attending or their alums. Outside of the natural rivalry – meaning the difference it makes to anyone not specifically invested in one or the other – the prestige gap is pretty negligible. That of course, is more or less true depending upon specific areas of study or specialization, some of which favor FSU and others favoring UF.

So, it may be true that UF is better known for graphic design, I have no experience in that area, but the idea that their overall national ranking ought to be a deciding factor is sort of red herring.

FSU is admittedly better for film. However UF will provide you with much stronger career placement seeing that you utilize its excellent quality of education

What FLVADAD said. ;)

If I have the correct program here: http://art.fsu.edu/Undergraduate/BFA-in-Design

FSU’s program is a “limited access program” which means it is very competitive to enter.

The UF program also is a “limited access program”.

Frankly, for things like art I’d pick FSU over UF simply because FSU is more liberal arts and sciences oriented than UF, as I posted earlier.

For example, FSU runs the Ringling Museum (the State Art Museum of Florida) in Sarasota, FL. See: http://www.ringling.org/ It really does not get any better than this in Florida, and indeed the Ringling is a national treasure.

Oh I meant I made my decision on the fact that uf’s graphic design program is much more highly recognized not its national rank

UF is more commonly known for it’s vet program than fine arts.

On this particular subject I find it amusing anyone would select UF over FSU for something like fine arts. It is kind of like saying the UF School of Music is more accomplished than the FSU College of Music. It just doesn’t happen - for good reason.

If there is confusion it is probably because those not familiar with either FSU or UF think them the same university. I’ve encountered this before.

How about archaeology?
