Is the FTCAP seesion at UP mandatory? Like, once you completed the online portion of the test, do you HAVE to visit the campus to follow up?

Well no not really. The on-campus day is where you:

-get your access account and email address
-ID card
-Start become oriented with UP
-Schedule classes

non-honors freshmen already get the worst pick of classes as it is so if you choose to skip the on-campus FTCAP, you would be scheduling etc the weekend before classes start, thus worst choice of classes.

Another thing, i would recommend taking your online placement tests ASAP after you get the notice in the e-mail. The order you return them helps determine the order you get invited to campus for the FTCAP program and thus the earlier and better classes you can pick.

Last year, honors FTCAP days were 5/20 and 21. After that, regular FTCAPs are held several times a week through July.

Oh, so during FTCAP, you take the ID pic? I was wonderin’ when you get it…

yea you get the card too. Also are able to set up a PNC bank account that is eaily accessed up there and can be linked to your ID

My D1 did FTCAP two years ago at a branch. It works the same way.

So, when do we actually receive information for this? I just accepted PSU a week or two ago.

Aprilish…

cwryan: So, after taking the online FTCAP, if you’re going to UP, is there an on-campus FTCAP day too? My older D had a subsequent on-campus thing for getting her ID, picking her schedule, etc. at he branch where she started, but it was easy because the branch is only 6 miles from our house. Will D2 have to go out to UP for an on-campus session? What is the timing on that? When? We’re almost three hours from UP.

Does anyone know when the FTCAP information comes out for summer session?

Yes, you do the online tests sometime in April and then you have to travel to UP sometime over the smmer for the rest of the FTCAP. The dates vary, you will receive notice after they process your placement tests. Once again, it well worth it to make the trek and I wouldn’t be complaining about a 3-hour drive, I met people last year who drove/flew in from across the country just for the day to particpate in FTCAP.

Yeah, that’s right. I took a bus the night before for 5 hours from NYC to attend FTCAP.

I guess I better save my vacation time for these college trips. Thanks much.
