Hi guys, I'm from Illinois and I've been looking at the college Northern Illinois which has a 75th percentile gpa of 3.0 and an ACT score of 23. My gpa UW is a 3.4 (W 4.4) and I have an ACT score of 28.25. I was wondering if since my gpa/act are substantially higher than NIU's, will that make me likely to get a large scholarship? Thanks guys!

Oh btw my class rank is 85/610 (top 13 percent I believe).

You should contact NIU for that specific question.
Also, go to college data dot com. You will see under the tab money matters how much they give out in merit, etc. However, it’s the average NIU or any other college gives out.

You can find the scholarship info on NIU’s website. Full ride is competitive and requires 33 ACT and 3.75 GPA. Next level is $7,000/year and requires 27 ACT and 3.75 GPA. You would currently qualify for a 2-year, $4,000/year scholarship.

My son will attend a directional state U similar to NIU and he had a higher ACT and lower GPA than you do. He was also inelegible for high level merit scholarships but was awarded a music scholarship and a small merit scholarship. He will be eligible for additional scholarship consideration in future years as an enrolled student. It looks like this is the case at NIU as well.
