I am in the premed club and I am aiming for about $5000 for cancer research. I need ideas for a fundraiser that lasts about 2-3 weeks and can raise $5000+ because candy grams, bake sales, etc don’t make much.
Clothing sales, dunk-a-teacher, carwashes, anything thats a service-in-exchange-for-cash situation. It’s kind of along the lines of a bake sale, but sno-cones have a crazy high profit margin and people impulse buy them like crazy when it’s hot out.
This probably sounds really crazy but my robotics team bought a bunch of pink flamingos and we put them in peoples yards and ask for a donation in return for moving the flamingos to a yard of their choice (like a friend, family member, coworker, enemy etc.). It requieres some commitment (cause you don’t wanna make people mad by leaving them in their yards too long) and people who can transport the flamingos around, but yeah. We made about $1000 last year. Google “flocking fundraiser” for more info.
It may not sound like a lot, but you could raise a good amount if you do a penny/change drive. We did that in SGA and we raised like $200. To put that in context we did it for one week (really more like 4 days), only accepted donations during lunch which was like 20 mins, and my high school was only like 108 students. It’s really cheap to do, people are mostly willing to give change because it doesn’t seem like a lot, and if you want to go the extra mile you can see if you can get the teachers in groups together to do donation matching, so in my case if we did that since the students raised $200 the teachers would pool together another $200 for a total of $400 raised. You can also make it a fun challenge. We did class wars (Juniors vs Seniors), but you could also do it with things like Homeroom classes or Boys vs Girls. People love competitions.
My school does an annual “stall day”. I don’t know if your school administration would allow it, but it raises a lot of money.
So every person donates change to their first period class’s donation pool. On a certain day, the teachers have to count all the change, and for the amount of time that the teacher is counting the change, it’s free-time for the students. In each subject, the class with the most amount of money donated gets a special prize, like a pizza party or donuts. Our school has managed to raise around $3000 annually (school size of about 1100), with the class donations ranging from $10 to $250.
My school does a miracle minute every year. At the same time, every homeroom has one minute to put as much change in their classes jar as possible. The winning homerooms got donuts the same day. It may not seem like much but classes get REALLY competitive. We raised around 2k when we did it. We actually donated our money to cancer research also.
