I am assigned to a double in Holland Hall at Pitt, and couldn't be more excited. But I'm dying to know, what (if anything) does the school provide for "lofting" beds? If I wanted to raise my bed to fit my desk underneath, do I have to find the supplies for that myself, or does the school have kits?

Also, what furniture does the school provide? Maybe I'm bad at navigating the site, but I haven't been able to find specifics on what is in the room already.

I have been in Towers and Sutherland. Those rooms have a desk with bookshelves on top, desk chair, bed, and chest of drawers for each student. The beds in those rooms can be bunked or raised up about three feet off the floor to allow some underbed storage. In Sutherland, the chest of drawers was short enough to go under the bed, but not in Towers. I have not heard of people lofting beds at Pitt, but I am not all-knowing either.

There are some pictures of dorm rooms on the residence life site, but Holland is not one of them.

All rooms come with a bed, desk (a light is built into the desk, but you’ll still want to bring a desk lamp of some sort), a closet and a dresser. The beds cannot be raised high enough to fit your desk underneath.
