future law school student - where should I go for Undergraduate?

Binghamton University or Stony Brook? Why?

Binghamton. But, wherever you go, just keep your gpa up and practice those LSATs and post a good number, you will get in somewhere.

bumpppppp?

I am a lawyer and a native New Yorker.

Binghamton and Stonybrook are approximately equal.

I don’t think going to one over the other would give you any appreciable advantage when applying to law school.

For example, if you live on Long Island, I wouldn’t go all the way to Binghampton just because Binghampton is slightly higher rated. Or visa versa.

However, I would think long and hard before going to law school, because of the vast oversupply of lawyers out there. Law School is THREE YEARS, and a ton of money.

I would encourage you not to treat college as merely a stepping stone to law school. I would encourage you to major in something where you can get a job right out of college in a good field.

Unless you have a chance to go to a top 15 law school, I wouldn’t do it. My son, under “normal” circumstances, would be a great candidate for law school, but I am not encouraging him to go that route, for the reason stated above, and a million other reasons.

What I’ve been hearing from several lawyers I know. However advice people don’t want to hear tends to be ignored…

for LS, it won’t matter one iota. The only thing that matters is gpa (+lsat). Go where you will most enjoy your four years (or is cheaper) and earn A’s.
