Hello everyone! I am currently a freshman in high school and have an absolute passion and obsession for all things in the business world. I am actually in the process of working on two startups as well! I am very interested in attending a summer program to and have been looking into the LEAD program at Penn and was wondering if any LEAD alumni could offer some insight as to what things I should focus on doing in the next year or so to better my chances of being accepted. Currently, I have a poor, 3.5 gpa, however that is subject to a somewhat drastic increase given some unforeseen and unfair circumstances. Additionally, I play baseball on two teams for most of the year, I have many connections and relatives in the business world for whom I work for or with occasionally. I am also somewhat active in the stock market, though I'm not sure how one would become aware of my doings in that sense. I am also looking to do more community service activities. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions regarding the LEAD program, my chances of acceptance, or general feedback.

Just a word of caution, I believe LEAD is more focused on URM (under-represented minorities) rather than the general public so keep that in mind. I hope you don’t get carried away with the concept that you HAVE to do business related things to get into business programs or a top business school, i feel like you should explore a little lol. For future programs, focus on getting leadership positions in which you have made a DIFFERENCE, or else it is next to useless.

Thank you for that. I understand where you are coming from in saying that my activities should be more diverse and that I should not zero in on one thing. However I have such in interest in business that I would enjoy business programs as a purely educational experience, aside from how it looks on my college application. Do you know of any programs that I could check out? If LEAD is not idel. Thank you all

There is a wonderful program I attended last year called Endevvr (it was hosted at MIT last year, but is subject to change). It is specifically tailored to those who want to start their own company (or already have!) The mentors and instructors are amazing and it was extremely educational and fun.

Launch is an entrepreneurship program held at MIT that is available for current freshman to apply, if you are interested:
