We are coming to South Bend for the ND/San Diego game and are wondering about parking. We will have my older parents along and would like to see the entire campus. My son lives in Knott Hall so it would be great if we could park near there.

i'll be going to that game to! SEASON OPENER!...its really really hard to find parking on campus on game day. lots of people will take a cab from their hotel or walk or have someone they know pick them up. there is parking off the main road behind the golf course but thats still a good distance. your best bet is one of the random parking lots right off campus and then walking

White Field isn't that bad of an option. It is a ways from the campus but there are buses that run back and forth to library circle. If you have a child who parks on campus, students park there free.

We will be at Notre Dame by noon, possibly earlier. Will that help at all?
I thought it would be nice to walk around campus and show my parents all the sights before the game. I was thinking maybe we could escape some of the chaos.

The chaos starts pretty early... However, if your parents aren't able to walk very far, you may be able to drop them off at Main Circle or by the bookstore and then meet up with them after you park the car.

Truth be told...parking at the Martin's grocery store for a the day will work just fine (but not overnight). I graduated last year and it worked quite well...I'll be there next weekend for the game and will try my theory again!

So how does one get to park in the Hersh(?) library parking lot, or the other parking lot right behind Knott Hall? Is there any chance at all we may get to park there?

One option is White Field as others have mentioned. There is a new entrance into White Field. If you are coming in off the Toll Road take ND Exit 77. After paying your toll the road that the toll booths are on will take you straight into White Field. Take one of the shuttles from there. If you would be lucky enough to get close enough (on campus) to drop your parents off and then go park you would probably be lucky if you got back to them in an hour; I would guess longer.

Another option is to call the university and ask for handicap parking. Not sure how that works, but I am sure the person you call would help however that can.

As far as parking in one of the parking lots on campus I would not expect that to happen. Those passes are mainly season ticket holders/donors/employees/special visitors etc etc Or may get lucky if you know someone who knows someone who knows someone .

If this is your first time going to a ND football game I suggest you get there as early as you can. I believe the game is at 3:30, so if you do not get there until 12:30 you may miss out on some of the things that happen on campus. Plan to be in your seats in time to see the team run out of the tunnel .. and the band .. Have fun.
