I am looking for a video game to put on my birthday list for next month, and I am having trouble finding what I am looking for. My fiance got me a wii and a bunch of multiplayer games, and I wanted to get something that is more of a single player adventure/RPG kind of game for the wii. For example, my favorite games are kingdom hearts, jak and daxter, and banjo kazooie. (Yes, I know I am a nerd even among nerds. lol.) I liked the harry potter games for ps2 but the ones I played had maddening load times and were really short. I don't like shooting games or anything that is overtly violent.

Any ideas? I thought epic mickey looked really cool but that's not coming out for a long time. The only thing I have looked at specifically so far was super mario galaxy, which gave me motion sickness so I am not interested in that one.

I don’t have any real good suggestions (haven’t touched the Wii in a while), but you are awesome for this. The only games I really liked for the Wii were Metroid Prime and Twilight Princess, not sure if those fit your bill.

When I read “a single player adventure/RPG kind of game”, I immediately thought of Dragon Age: Origins for the PC, and then Persona 4 for the PS2. But then I saw the rest of the sentence.

Of the Zelda games for wii, is there one in particular that stands out as a good one for someone who has never played a zelda game? My bf suggested zelda but having never played any of them all the options are a little overwhelming.

As for the other suggestions, I’ve never heard of any of these games so I’ll have to look them up. Thanks!

Twilight Princess is the only one for the Wii right now. Personally I liked Windwaker better but it was for the Gamecube (which you could still play on the Wii if you wanted).

You can play gamecube games on a wii? I won’t actually have the wii in my possession until my bday so I haven’t gotten a chance to flip through the manual or anything yet. I may have to raid fiance’s gamecube collection.

I have an N64 and still play it regularly, and a super nintendo, too. XD We only got a game or two a year when I was growing up, so I have missed a lot of the usual games. I’ve never played a final fantasy game either.

The advantage is that I have no need to spend $50 on the new donkey kong country, because I can totally still play the original. XD

Since your Wii can also play Gamecube games, consider sampling some of the best available on GC: Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, and the hard-to-find-because-it-so-freaking-good-but-you-had-better-buy-it-or-you’re-missing-out Beyond Good and Evil.

Did I mention Beyond Good and Evil?

Also, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, even though they gave you motion sickness, are great games. Consider having some lights on or something to reduce the sensation of motion.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was the premiere adventure/action/RPG on the Wii. Give that a try.

Zack and Wiki is a great puzzle/adventure game for a single person.

Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece, but it’s twelve-year-old graphics may be an eyesore for some folks. Play it anyway. I do not recommend buying the GC disc unless you can miraculously find it for cheap, I recommend buying the downloadable version from the Wii shopping channel.

As for Zelda in general, there is no need to play the games in any kind of order, really, they are all “reboots,” in a sense. At least that’s my opinion and it’s as valid as any other opinion on Zelda continuity (there are a few exceptions, I think the latest DS Zelda is a direct sequel to the first Zelda, but unless you have the DS handheld you won’t care). So feel free to play Twilight Princess or OoT or Wind Waker first, whichever looks good to you.

You’ll need a GC controller though, they connect to the Wii.
