Because the Gates deadline was earlier than other scholarships I applied for, by the time this process was all said and done, I had been awarded other scholarships as well. My college too reduced a Merit Award they had offered me by 8K. However, I wound up with no unmet need. A new reward letter was submitted to Gates that included the other scholarships and it resulted in a reduction from Gates as well--with a note saying that each semester would be different and not to worry. She stated that Gates was a "zero dollar scholarship" meaning that all monies would be supplied to the last dollar every semester. Outside of you EFC, you still will have no unmet need regardless of the reduction from your school. No worries.

Victor,

My name is Armando Garza and I am actually from Palacios Texas but currently live in Marshall Texas. I am a GMS and will be attending Baylor University. I want to ask if you or anyone else has received their money for school. They were going to mail them in July and the month is almost over and I am worried.

i haven't received my check yet. it should be coming in the near future, so don't worry too much! if you need to pay tuition really, really soon, then maybe you should contact them.

I got mine in mid July. Luckily, I was at my school in a research program, so I was able to give it to the financial aid office at that time. My mom mailed it to me.
